It has been awhile ....

I know I said that I probably wouldn't post every day, but I never meant to let seven months go by.........

I recently was following the "What I do" memes which was started at Geneablogger and they have inspired me to write some more, and to get back into my research.

The first thing I learned was about google reader. It is a lifesaver. I previously had saved blogs to my favorites and then visited them to catch up. Google Reader is a lifesaver. I still have to learn the finepoints, but am anxious to learn. I just added it to my google homepage which will make things easier.

I use a regular hp laptop, and rootsmagic 4 as my database program. I also have an IPAQ which has "Pocket Genealogist" by Northern Hills Software, which makes everything more portable. I use a "MyBook" to back up my laptop. I also have a few usb drives. My most current purchase is an HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless all in one machine. I like the fact that it has a feeder and you can scan a group of pages and have them put in one file. I bought this in hopes of getting a lot of my documents scanned. Again, life has gotten in the way and I haven't done much scanning. I use an ipod for the podcasts that I listen to and an Itrip in the car so I can catch up on my listening.

I hope to post more and I will be keeping up with more of the genealogy blogs.
